Hannah Goebel Highs and Lows Single Art

Highs

Hi. Hello. High. However you say it. Welcome. This is our new Alumni Hannah’s week and we’re talking about her new song. In a distant time, long ago, before anyone had to call grocery stores/Walmart visits “Supply Runs” like it’s the Walking Dead. A song was made. That song. That song is Highs & Lows

The latest single from Hannah Goebel follows the first single from earlier this year Hold On. The follow-up single sounds like a very upbeat, top down in the summer kind of bop, but in a closer listen it touches on some very deep, very real topics. Social Media Addiction, depression, and loneliness.

Lows

As a globe we are all feeling a collective sense of Highs & Lows. We’re experiencing depression and an overwhelming sense of loneliness. Even quarantined with other people, we can still feel stuck.

The high guitar, mixed with the piano, and her smooth vocals lacing it all together gives you as a listener a sense of hope that as you deal with your own struggles, that you can overcome. Just remember to tell all your highs and lows “We’re Not Alone”!

Rice’s Food For Thought

There’s a lot going on in the world today and even before this all happened we were all dealing with whatever we had going on already. Finances. Health. Crappy Neighbors. Whatever you had going on, you now have a virus to be the icing on the cake making everything, including the fact you have to deal with those neighbors day in and day out, everyday now, much worse.

I’ve personally been through a lot dealing with this virus as an immunocompromised person, and I’ve gone through a lot of Lows while trying to find the Highs. For me, I’ve been trying to find ways to deal with depression and loneliness. Finding joys in small, completable tasks, and diving into new music have been the things I can turn to! Planned or not, it’s great to have a song like this that speaks to what we’re all going through.
