Bre Kennedy drove here in a Nissan Maxima.  Across the country, that is… to stay in an AirBnb for a couple of months and write Bre Kennedy interviewmusic.  How’s that for following your dreams?  Fortunately, it was the best and boldest move she ever made.  Now, she’s hanging out with us on the red couch!  Check out the video of her incredible story above!

Writing for major bands and musicians like Echosmith, Bre Kennedy is the kind of artist that comes from songwriting.  We love seeing this here in Nashville because have some of the best collaborative songwriters in the country.  It’s a side of the business that can easily be overlooked when compared to the spotlight of performance.  That’s why it’s important to us to highlight this side of the industry.  There are some incredible creatives here that deserve some of that spotlight for their creations.

A Songwriter’s Advice

The rise of the songwriter is definitely upon us.  For Bre Kennedy, she started out young, about 14 or 15, and was naturally nervous.  She decided around 18 that she prefers sweat pants and creative collaborations.  It was later that she decided it was time to step out and show the world her performance chops.  Other than letting us in on her secrect Sponge Bob Square Pants obsession, she offers several pieces of advice.  One of my favorites is:

“If any artist ever has a fear that their stuff’s not good enough just put your shit out, let the world decide and put it to bed.  Because you don’t know how many people actually do want to hear, or are ready to hear, it.”

So, surround yourself with good people.  You’re journey matters and there are others like you.  Once again, the internet offers us the ability to reach our audience.  For every troll, there’s 100 fans.  In other words, say screw it and do it.
