Nashville indie rockers The Western Sons break onto the site with the music video “Send My Love”.  Incorporating an the western sonsAmericana vibe with indie pop rock sounds, these guys play music you can easily play on repeat.  It’s like Third Eye Blind had an indie rock baby with a dash of southern genes sprinkled in. I dare say that all their songs need to be in line for your 2017 summer anthems list.

The Western Sons assembled in Florida then recently made the move to Nashville to pursue their music careers inside of the creativity of Music City. The band is made up of Garrett Carr (vocals and bass), Tyler Cohenour (some more vocals and guitar), Blake Rigdon (lead guitar) and Nick Benik (drums).  It came from the mind of drummer Benik, who wanted to pull together a DIY pop rock band.  Their Facebook bio likes to joke that its “somewhere between pop-rock that your Dad would approve of, and Dad-rock that your sister would groove to, “but that’s just because it’s chill and highly groovable(?).

“Send My Love” & “Nothing New”

“Send My Love” is one of their latest music videos.  This song is extremely catchy, and it just makes you feel good.  The opening riff sets off the vocal harmonies, and then you’re off into chill land.  It embodies Nashville’s attitude in look and feel, with vibrant colors and the “studio” atmosphere.  It’s classic American rock in its soul, which make it timeless (kind of like that dad rock they were talking about).

“Nothing New” is a song with a country flavor (though I wouldn’t categorize these dudes that way in general).  I wanted to highlight this song because it’s another end of the spectrum that these guys cover so well.  If “Send My Love” was a summer highway jam, “Nothing New” would be the night time bonfire song.  The guys lead with an acoustic guitar and Carr’s thoughtful lyrics, and highlight these rythms with a dreamy background guitar.  Once again, they create a catchy melody that’s easy to groove to.

If you want to find out more about this laidback Nashville band, follow them on Facebook and Twitter.  Look for new releases and live show information on their website; and as always, continue stalking these guys in the legalist of sense.
