Rand is an independent artist out of Nashville with the smoothest, most chill jams I’ve heard in a long time.  With a mixture of bluesy pop rock, surf rock, and the mellow vibes of Jack Johnson, this guy is mellow. He creates the kind of music that makes you reflect.  It’s like an audible summer road trip, a song that plays on the radio that suddenly makes you think about life.  With this his easy-going vibe, this performer pulls together a style that’s true to the soul.Rand Nashville Unsigned

Rand brings together soft harmonies, rich, bluesy chord riffs, and even elements from saxophones, pianos or synths to smooth everything out.  Hell, sometimes he just sets up with his acoustic guitar and pulls it from his soul as a solo act.  His philosophy toward life is apparent in his music and is something to be felt in the experience.  As a songwriter, he pulls from his life to bring joy and understanding to his listeners.  However, this is not in a hug your neighbor kind of way, but in a deeper sense.  As he says on his website,

“A wise man once told me that a songwriter’s job is to make somebody feel happy or loved or less alone.”

Rand is cool because of how he brings this whole philosophy of life within every aspect of his music career.  His live shows are interactive, with a style that is perfect for the summertime festival season.  The video for “Watercolors” shows this, as it was filmed outside on a live stage at Randfest (we see what you did there). This live style of filming songs really adds to Rand’s overall feel.  He uses live footage creatively, as he often refers to the concept of life. Even though the lyrics could be considered sad, you can’t help but nod your head and just accept the good mood you’re in.  Then, it’s all sunshine.

Even with his nonchalant, love-life attitude, it’s obvious he puts the work in.  His website has a solid, straightforward layout that brings the viewer directly to his music.  Check it out for yourself and you’ll find a few new chill jams to top off the summer.  If you want to keep up with his new updates, follow his Facebook.  Of course, we have more Rand on the site!
