Singer Shelby Neubauer and guitarist Aaron Meyers blend vintage Americana with modern, ambient melodies that harmonize beautifully and compliment the honest and soulful lyrics these two deliver. Songs like the haunting “This Thing We Do” and “Beautiful Faces” highlight emotions of a beautiful sadness, forging a story when coupled with folk-like lyrics; while songs like “Only One” follow a marching tempo and have more of that retro Americana feel.

The real creativity of this band is how they take a classic, rustic style of American music and make it so modern. Paper Trails blends Nashville-based sounds with hip, modern and ambient melodies– all with the spirit of rock n’ roll. Some songs have a hip, artistic feel, like echoing distortions that give the song a psychedelic feel, while other songs are broken down and acoustic (such as “Until I Get”), showing off the velvet pipes of this Americana duo. Their sound really resonates with the Nashville crowd because it is something that can be appreciated with Nashville’s hip, east-side crowd and the old fashioned country music lovers Nashville is so well-known for.

Paper Trails on Nashville UnsignedThese two have had a Nashville following for years, playing honkey-tonks and venues around town since their band’s conception.
