Bold, fierce, savage. These are the three words to perfectly describe the new self-titled EP from Whissell that she surprise BOMBED on us this month!

Whissell doesn’t hold anything back, laying it all out on the table from a woman’s point of view including dreams and desires. With a long history of women being told what is okay to talk or not talk about, including sexual desires, it is very evident that times have changed. And Whissell is adding to the plethora of baddassery that is always needed in the female musician world.

This 5 track EP is a whirl wind of alluring, powerhouse vocals that showcase Whissell’s masterly songwriting abilities and her offbeat sound that makes her stand out as an artist. With an alternative-pop sound infused with bluesy undertones, this Floridian highlights her unique virtues. She managed to cover one of her biggest music idols while keeping the song as true to her artistry as a pair of blue levi jeans. She is an artist who realizes where her love for music first sprouted and easily identifies with the influences that helped her find her own niche in the music scene.

Check out the three L’s of Whissell’s new EP to see where you’re lacking. Maybe one of her tunes can get you back on track! 😉

A Song About Living

“Living Now” is relatable to anyone who has been working that “9-5”and has dreams that they are starting to see come to fruition. As a whole, this jam reminded me to live my life instead of sweating the small stuff and remembering to celebrate the wins because like Whissell says, “celebration ain’t no crime” ;).

A Song About Lusting

A personal favorite, “Legs Crossed”, is a lustful “I want you” song. It speaks to feelings of seduction and burning desire. The intense rhythm makes you feel the time sensitive matter that Whissell sings of. The ferocity of the track is addicting, and you will want to listen to this one on repeat.

A Song About LovingNashville Unsigned Class 4 Alumni Whissell launches her self-titled EP

As Whissell’s earliest childhood crush and musical inspiration that made her  “All Shook Up”, Elvis Presley made a profound impact on her music. She adds her own spin to the cover that feels almost like overindulgence when you enjoy too much of a guilty pleasure. She adds her own steamy slyness to the song. It’s hard to listen without adding in your own dance moves.

A Song About Leaving

Have you ever been in an unhealthy relationship? Sometimes you have to leave things in the past and move on. This is something we are all familiar with and that Whissell speaks to in her new jam “Been Here Before”.  A different vibe than most break-up songs, this one is unapologetic, uplifting, and inspiring. Instead of giving the message that she feels any remorse, she sings boldly that she’s “never gonna go back” and gives a reminder that it’s alright to be alone than to be with someone that has wronged you. This is a “stand your ground” empowerment song that anyone leaving a relationship needs to heal with.

A Song About Being Loud

Not everyone wants to play by the rules and live within certain boundaries and restrictions. Whissell sings about being a “Wild Animal” that doesn’t want to be tamed. It is a song that warns CAUTION, DANGER AHEAD for anyone considering to try and wrangle the free spirit that Whissell embodies. Sometimes you’d rather run with the lions than run with the sheep.
